Our article “Giant Chemo-Resistive Response of POSS Nano-Spacers in PS- and PMMA-Based Quantum Resistive Vapour Sensors (vQRS) Used for Cancer Biomarker Analysis” is available in Chemosensors as part of the special issue Recent Advances in Multifunctional Sensing Technology for Gas Analysis !
This article presents the development of highly sensitive and selective vapour sensors (vQRS) for cancer biomarker detection using carbon nanotube (CNT) networks functionalized with copolymers of PS- or PMMA-based polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS). POSS acts as a nano-spacer, enhancing polymer swelling and disconnection of CNT junctions upon exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs), leading to larger chemo-resistive responses than the sensors based only on pure polymers. They were also found very selective towards cyclohexane and hexene-1.
